Accessible Ventures Transportation of St. Maarten (AVTS)
has been redefining the meaning of special needs transportation since February of 2005.
We discovered a need on our island for professional and caring special-needs services, driven by personnel with expertise in the field.
We set out to minimize limitations by delivering the tools and services that would restore mobility and independence to physically impaired patients and clients.
This need in our community was identified by Mr. Louis Jeffers, CEO and Managing Director of the company.
His mother was a double amputee, and being the only boy out of all his siblings, he was tasked with the majority of the lifting and moving of his mother as it would be too strenuous for his sisters. At that time there was no transportation services for persons with special needs.
And so, Accessible Ventures was born. Together with his mentor, Mr. Jose Marlin, they built AVTS from the ground up to what it is today.
Over the years, AVTS has offered transportation for many locals and visitors. Besides providing non-emergency medical transportation, we also provide tours for locals and tourists visiting the island.
Occasionally, we also take the seniors at the White & Yellow Cross on island tours, to watch the parades, visit the Festival Village and other activities.
We are very proud of the accomplishments of AVTS and how far we have come. However, where special needs transportation is concerned, we still have a long way to go as an island.
AVTS will continue to provide quality service to our patients and clients and hope that in the near future the entire island will be accessible for our residents, as well as our guests.
